Introduction  Economic Inequality in Agrabah  We will hear from an economist, social worker, educator, as well as a politician

Role of the Economy  The economy plays a significant role in the gap between the wealthy and the poor here in Agrabah

Economic Inequality in Agrabah  growing concern of the gap between the wealthy and the poor in the country of Agrabah.  Egypt: “The poverty rate has considerably increased, as it has reached an average of 25.5 per cent for the year 2010/2011 compared to 21.6 per cent in 2008/2009, the state-run statistics agency CAPMAS reported” (Poverty rate rises).  “for several key countries, growing poverty levels occurred in tandem with high economic growth rates, demonstrating that wealth was flowing towards some and away from others” (Hanieh).  “Establish stable institutions to empower people to be free and productive and they will prosper” (Pennington).

Race and Inequality  Agrabah is home to many different races  From 2010 to 2013, the median wealth of non-Hispanic white households increased from $138,600 to $141,900, or by 2.4%.”  huge gap between white households and black in Agrabah where the income rate is totally different and unbalanced.  According to the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), “The richest 10% of the population in OECD countries earn 9.5 times more than the poorest 10%.
