Training The NRC does not endorse or approve training offered by licensees or other organizations. It is the responsibility of the licensee to make sure that they and their staff are in compliance with the training requirements in 10 CFR 30.33(a)(3).

Online Training Most of the training requirements for materials licensees are not prescriptive. NRC will accept online training

Online Training NRC licensing and inspection program are performance based Online training will not be treated any different from regularly classroom training It will be the licensee’s responsibility to demonstrate that their staff have sufficient training to perform their tasks.

NUREG-1556, Vol. 1 (Portable Gauges) In 2009 the NRC begin receiving inquiries about online training for portable gauge users. Included a brief discussion in the Draft NUREG-1556, Vol. 1, Rev. 2 published for comment in May of this year. In Appendix C we stated that online training was acceptable however any online training should be supplemented by practical training
