Principles of Asset Building  All young people need assets.  Everyone can build assets.  Relationships are key.

Forming Influential Relationships with Young People n Level 1 Making Connections n Use the young person’s name or nickname. n Level 2 Getting to Know Young People n Learn something about the young person. n Level 3 Identifying and Encouraging Young People’s n Strengths and Talents n Support the young person through talking, listening, and observing.

Forming Influential Relationships with Young People n Level 4 Challenging Young People n Help the young person to set goals, follow through with affirmations, and acknowledge rules and their consequences. n Level 5 Focusing on Building Specific Assets n Do something for or with the young person outside your routine that helps promote specific assets. n Level 6 Maintaining Relationships n Maintain contact.

Principles of Asset Building  All young people need assets.  Everyone can build assets.  Relationships are key.  Asset building is an ongoing process.  Consistent messages are crucial.  Repetition is important.
