Kennedy Center Award 3 Peoria Unified School District Board received 26th annual KCAAEN and NSBA Award on April 7 th 2014 $10,000 Award to be used for Arts Education “ The Peoria Unified Governing Board is a national model of school board leadership to develop innovative arts education programs to benefit student learning” NSBA Executive Director Thomas J. Gentzel Background

4 Board’s Recommendation for Grant Focus on Professional Learning Alignment with the District’s Strategic Plan of Recruit, Develop and Retain Staff Arts Ed Department created an actionable plan for Professional Learning Support the building of quality instructional practices for teachers through enhanced professional development opportunities

5 Arts Education Plan Provide funding for our arts educators to attend conferences and workshops Enhance professional development learning through external resources Provide opportunities to engage in the instructional rounds Development of teacher leaders

6 Professional Learning Grants Empowering Educators to have choice in how they grow Grant program to provide funding registration fees for non-degree related training opportunities

7 District Based Professional Development Arts Ed provided 81 different workshops to educators on the 4 district professional development days 18% were enhanced with Kennedy Center Grant funds Highlights of school year Mr. Scott Lang Mr. Kirk O’Hara Percussion workshop Attendance at State Conferences
