Is there an Honors Program?  At the end of the 1 st semester, students self-nominate or are nominated by professors. If the nomination is accepted, the student will be interviewed. In the spring, all scholars are announced.  In sophomore year, choose University Honors, Chemistry, Biology, or Nursing  What you do: Interact with each other in 1 hour interdisciplinary honors seminar, must have honors thesis or research project in junior and/or senior year, and 3 additional specifically designed courses for that honor student  Opportunities: Encouraged to participate in at least 1 summer research grant with faculty mentor, be invited to become a member of one general and one discipline specific honors society, and present research at the Wingate undergrad research symposium and at least one regional conference  Benefits: student lounge in Burris Hall for Honors Program use,, connect with upper class Honor Mentors and participate in special social opportunities, and meet with University administrators to enhance the educational environment

Irwin Belk Scholarships: MOST COMPETITIVE - top 10% of high school class, 4.2 weighted GPA, SAT score was 1950 or higher or ACT was 30 or higher, must enroll full-time and achieve GPA OF 3.0, LIMITED - $14, Trustee Scholarships: weighted GPA, enroll full- time and maintain satisfactory progress - freshman only -$7,000

Does Wingate Have On Campus Housing?  Living on campus is required all 4 years unless you are married, a parent, over 23 years old, or living in principle residence of parents  You can request roommates and you can move (questionnaire is completed to pair up roommates)  You can have a vehicle on campus, but you need a parking pass  80% of all students live on campus  First years have to live in the Cannon, Alumni, and JM Smith Residence Halls  Sophomores and Upper Classmen can choose to live in an apartment or suite style residential area on campus: South Village, Watson Village, and Helms Residence Hall
