Tuesday: Overview of final essay Discussion of Informal Writing Analyzing film Thursday: Informal Writing due Should have viewed The Haunting (2+ times, if possible) Be prepared to discuss the adaptation This Week

Focus on adaptation Still meaning based Two texts make the same meaning in a different way Two texts make a different meaning in the same way Two texts make different meanings in different ways Write about: The Turn of the Screw/Maybe This Time The Haunting of Hill House/The Haunting “The Tell Tale Heart”/The Tell Tale Heart Draft of 1000 words with one source Final with 1500 words and TWO sources Final Essay

“A Jury of Her Peers” presents a clearly unified group of women who protect Mrs. Wright after she murders her husband, while Trifles makes this more ambiguous. The later short story highlights the complicated gender relations at work in the small town. Both “A Jury of Her Peers” and Trifles use bird imagery to align Mrs. Wright to the trapped and ultimately killed bird that spurs her murder of her husband and show the deadly nature of psychological abuse. Final Draft: Sample thesis

Summary of source due 4/17 Those who turned it in for the Midterm do not have to turn one in. If you had source trouble with the Midterm, meet with me during office hours. Draft due 4/22 Peer Review 5/6 Final due 5/9 (final exam period) Final Essay Due Dates
