Small Business “vital statistics” There are approximately 25 million small businesses in U.S. Nearly 900,000 of these are new employer businesses. Small businesses hire more women, younger workers, older workers, and part-time workers. Small businesses provide 67% of workers with their first jobs and initial on-the-job training. Small business bankruptcies are the lowest in 19 years.

Provide about 75% of new jobs added to economy. Represent 99.7% of all employers. Employ 53% of the private workforce. Provide 47 percent of all sales in the country. Represent 96% of all U.S. exporters.
