JACK O’CONNELL State Superintendent of Public Instruction Current Categorical Program Monitoring Steps CDE performs the on-site review Examines compliance item documentation Conduct classroom observations Interview staff/parents Review conclusion Results of fact finding are presented and a detail report, by program type, given to the LEA. Timeframe for correction of findings discussed. LEA responds to CDE review findings Propose resolution of noncompliant findings. Request compliance follow-up assistance from CDE program staff. (Optional) Prepare a corrective action plan. Local Educational Agency preparation Analyze performance data (API, AYP, CAHSEE, CELDT). Review OPSET, English Learner and Cross Program instruments. Collect documents for each compliance item.

CDE performs review of uploaded documents Does the documentation contain qualitative indicators that would support a compliance conclusion. Determine whether supplemental information, in written form, would reveal item compliance. Based on all the documents received, will an on-site visit be necessary.
