“FEAR GOD AND BE BLESSED” SUMMER IN THE PSALMS – PSALM 128 August 31, 2014

“UNLE

. I. To Fear God Is a Blessing Blessed is everyone who fears the L ORD, who walks in his ways! That word blessed is translated from Hebrew and means “happy well-being.”

. II. The Blessing of Contentment in Fruitful Labor “ You shall eat the fruit of the labor of your hands; you shall be blessed, and it shall be well with you.” (V2)

. III. The Blessing of a Fruitful Wife and Family 3 Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house; your children will be like olive shoots around your table. 4 Behold, thus shall the man be blessed who fears the L ORD.” (V.3- 4)

A woman`s contribution was to provide an atmosphere of joy within the heat and hardships of life… a source of refreshment, shelter, shade.

IV. The Proclaimed Blessing of Peace and Prosperity 5 “ The L ORD bless you from Zion! May you see the prosperity of Jerusalem all the days of your life! 6 May you see your children's children! Peace be upon Israel! (V. 5-6)

When God's people individually live a life that fears Him, He also blesses them corporately.
