WALLS OF JERICHO
Walls Of Jericho What brought Israel to this point? Enslaved by Egyptians God used Moses & 10 Plagues for deliverance Wandered in wilderness for 40 years Learned many lessons while in the wilderness
Walls Of Jericho Israel is now ready to enter in and take over the land promised to them God made a promise to Joshua in Joshua 1:2-9 Joshua sends out spies to spy out the land, especially Jericho (Josh. 2)
Walls Of Jericho God continues to reassure the people that He will be with them The spies brought back a good report (Josh. 2:24) God makes the waters of the Jordan stop so the people can cross on dry land (Josh. 3)
Walls Of Jericho The men are circumcised just as God had commanded them to be (Josh. 5) Joshua has an encounter with the Commander of the army of the Lord (Josh 5:13-15) Now we see the battle of Jericho in Joshua 6
Walls Of Jericho The greatest obstacle to the city of Jericho was the walls that surrounded it God had a particular plan for these walls, but it required obedience and faith from the Israelites (Josh. 6:1-5, 10) What do we know about the walls of Jericho?
Walls Of Jericho It’s obvious that without the help of God, the Israelites probably were not going to get into Jericho That’s why God was involved in this battle Children of Israel still had a role to play They had to be obedient and have faith in God (Heb. 11:30; Josh. 6:20)
Walls Of Jericho So what lessons do we learn from this? Nothing is impossible for God (Matt. 19:26) Faith in God is required if we expect God to help us with anything (Heb. 11:6; Js. 1:5-8) Obedience is also a requirement of God (Heb. 5:9; Matt. 7:21) Walls still exist today (II Cor. 10:3-5)
