Government Review By: Lori Takcs Period 2

Political Socialization  Political socialization is a lifelong process in which people form their ideas about politics. Some of these groups include: family, educational system, peer groups, and the mass media all play a role. While family and school are important when people are young, what our peers think and what we read in the newspaper and see on TV has more influence on our political attitudes as adults.

Voting rights act of 1965  Made it illegal to interfere with anyone’s right to vote in any election held within the United States.  It suspended the use of literacy tests which enabled some people to vote.

Policy Voting  The way a specific group of people vote on certain issues. For example, some people will vote for a certain politician if they are against abortion. The voter may not even care about the other views of the politician.
