Earth and Moon By: Sam Foreman

Weather and Atmosphere The Moon does not have an atmosphere, unlike Earth. Earth has clouds rain and oxygen but the Moon doesn’t have any of these because of no atmosphere which also causes extreme temperatures on the Moon.

Size  The size between the Earth and the Moon is a great difference.  The Moon is one quarter the size of Earth.  Earths Diameter: 12,742 km.  Moons Diameter: 3,474 km.  The Moon weighs 80 times less than the Earth!

Landforms and Craters Instead of wonderful landforms the Moon is full of many craters, caused mostly by meteors and asteroids pounding against the Moon. Earth is full of shapes of land called landforms, mountains, valleys, and plains are all landforms.

Gravity  Earth has a gravitational pull of 9.78 MIS.  The gravity of the Moon is 1/6 of Earths gravity.

Water About 70% of the Earth is made of water unlike the Moon where it has no water but, in 2009 frozen water was discovered on the Moon Cool!!!

Weathering and Erosion  The Moon has no natural weathering or erosion, the only erosion comes from the temperatures and asteroids.  The Earth on the other hand has running water, land slides, an atmosphere, and different types of storms.

Rotation Time The Moon takes about days to rotate on its axis. The Earth though takes 24 hours to rotate on its axis. when Earth rotates on its axis, it causes day and night.

Lets go Orbit! The Moon orbits around the earth, it takes days to orbit the Earth once. This also causes the Moon phases. The Earth orbits the Sun once every 365 days, CUASING THE SEASONS.

Effects on Other Cycles  Tides are caused by the Moons gravity reaching toward earth and effecting the water on Earth.  As I mentioned in an earlier slide, the Earths orbit around the sun causes our seasons from the position.
