CTAP-295 Final Presentation Brad Bitter Chowchilla Union High School

Introduction  High School Teacher in the Ag. Dept.  Swine Advisor  Ag. Mechanics and Small Engines Coach  Wife, Kimberly, Asst. Principal  My Website: /bitter/public_html

Expectations  Increased technology integration into classroom  Learn new presentation techniques  Integration of Internet into curriculum

Actual Results  Knowledge of MS-Word as a web authoring tool  Ability to utilize web as a resource for both students and myself  Ability to tie different programs together to format a lesson plan

Successes and Shortcomings I feel the major success of my lesson is that all 7 Ag. Instructors and anyone else on campus teaching ROP will be able to utilize it for the Employability Portfolio. Also, by using this format, any student will be able to complete this lesson individually by simply having Internet access. One shortcoming is that all the Internet links tied to this lesson will have to constantly be checked and updated.

Shortcomings Summarized  Instability of links  Lack of “instant” feedback or review  Volume of resources may detract from creativity  Assumes Internet competence

Successes Summarized  24/7 Access to lesson plan  Self contained lesson plan  Widely available to all ROP students

Student Data This chart shows that the posttest data is significantly higher than the pretest data. I attribute this mainly to enhanced skills using MS-Word Templates.

Summary of Revisions  The Student Data chart showed that the students improved their “style” through the usage of Templates.  The following revisions were made during CTAP-295: Revise objectives, update website, review hyperlinks, revision of pretest to meet objectives.

Suggested Revisions RevisionSuggestions ObjectivesRefinement of objectives Update websiteHave students check hyperlinks for validity PretestModified to meet refined objectives

Conclusion I feel that I am now able to utilize technology better in my classroom. Using tools that I have had no previous knowledge gave me the ability to put lessons on the internet and improve student access to them. I have also realized that the internet is a wonderful resource for students as long as the it is Teacher-Directed. Internet resources and current search engines require quite a bit of competency to utilize them correctly and efficiently. The nice part about electronic web-based lessons is that they are handy for revision and updating.
