We Can Rejoice in the Lord Because We Can Do All Things (Philippians 4:13)

A Brief Review Our lesson for today represents our 18 th installment in this series of lessons taken from the book of Philippians. We have undertaken this series of lessons in order to learn why it is we have reason to rejoice in being a Christian! In so doing, we are seeking to illustrate just how wonderful it is to be a child of God, increase our faithfulness to God, and also improve our outreach to those who are not yet children of God.

Rejoicing in the Lord Because We Have Power from Him! Today’s text is life-changing! I-Personal Can Do-Positive All Things-Powerful Through Christ-Providential Who Strengthens Me-Promissory

It Is Important That We Say “I Can” Often times the difference between victory and defeat in our spiritual lives is found in the words “I can” versus “I can’t.” But more than this, we need to make sure that we remember the only reason why we can say “I can do all things” is because of the power that our Lord supplies! (I Samuel 17:40-47; John 15:4,5)

How Is It That Christ Strengthens Us? He strengthens us by means of the Holy Spirit whom He has given us. (Romans 5:5; Titus 3:4-6) The Holy Spirit provides us with the power to: –Put away the deeds of the body (Romans 8:13; Galatians 5:16) –Remind us who we are (Romans 8:14-16) –Help us in our prayer life (Romans 8:26,27) –Fill us with joy, peace, and hope (Romans 15:13) –Help us to understand all that we have received from God (I Corinthians 2:12) –Strengthen in the inner man (Ephesians 3:14-16) –Reap everlasting life (Galatians 6:8)

What Can We Do Through Christ Who Strengthens Us? We can love as we ought! (4:1) We can forgive and be reconciled! (4:2) We can be peacemakers! (4:3) We can be happy! (4:4) We can be gentle and gracious! (4:5) We can overcome the worry! (4:6) We can have peace! (4:7) We can control our thoughts! (4:8) We can be content! (4:10-12) We can help others! (4:14-18)
