2013 years, according to our calendars, have now come and gone since our Lord was here on earth, and now we begin the year 2014 Each year ends with a bit of sadness, a bit of relief, and a bit of anticipation So much of what the New Year will be is dependent on our attitude Our attitude should be what Paul stated: "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." Phil 4:13

THROUGH CHRIST I CAN HAVE SALVATION – We must be concerned about our own salvation Phil 2:12 – We can save ourselves Acts 2:40 – We can help save others 1Tim 4:16 – However, we will all stand before God to answer for ourselves, not someone else 2Cor 5:10; Rom 14:12

THROUGH AND WITH CHRIST I CAN FACE THE FUTURE – We need to be positive about the future – We must see the potential Num 13:30 – We have no reason to fear Heb 13:12-14; Jhn 10:15-18; Eph 3:12 – Some only see problems in coming year Num 13:31

THROUGH AND WITH CHRIST I CAN SERVE GOD – Our faith must prompt us to serve God – Our faith is nothing if it does not prompt us to serve the Lord with all our might Jas 1:22; 2:18; Eccl 9:10 – God has set before us a race to run, a victors crown to win We are not spectators 1Cor 9:24,25 Race must be run with patience Heb 12:1 – We must run in 2014, so that we will not be ashamed to meet the Lord 2Tim 4:7

THROUGH AND WITH CHRIST MUCH CAN BE ACCOMPLISHED – We must not limit what can be done – Both individuals and church have much to do this year We suffer but God's love sustains us Rom 8:36-39 God will help us do what we can Eph 3:20 – A little bit of faith can go a long way Matt 17:20 – Knowing God hears us gives confidence 1Jhn 5:14-15

THROUGH AND WITH CHRIST WE CAN HAVE SUCCESS – Jesus will help us 2Tim 4:14-18; Heb 13:6 – However, to have his help we must continue to abide in Him Jhn 15:5-8 – We must put His kingdom first Matt 6:33

Many things have changed in 2013 some have gone on to their reward and now the new year is before us; what will it hold for us? No one knows what a new year may bring, it may bring great joy or great sorrow. The great society as we know it today, may in fact come to an end. However, we can make up our minds to face the future, whatever it may be, with a positive attitude and strive to be an asset rather than a liability to the congregation of which we are a part. "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." Phil 4:13
