Scholars and the web-generation students are embracing information technologies and becoming increasingly Google-centric.

They are expecting Amazon-like functionality from their libraries.

In light of these developments, libraries' challenge is to integrate the collections and services in this new learning environment.

Library Services in Support of Learning and Teaching Provide reference and referral services –finding digital and analog information –technical assistance to connect, extract, print, etc. –help through and chat service Help acquire information literacy skills –how to find, evaluate, use information Assist in locating information –course web sites –document delivery, electronic reserves, interlibrary loan Create and acquire electronic resources –physical & intellectual organization –intellectual rights, security, and authenticity

An increasing numbers of faculty and researchers will weave information technologies into their work and will need assistance in planning, creation, and management of digital information.

New Library Services in Support of Learning and Teaching Offer services in support of digital content creation –Digitization (library materials or faculty content) –Metadata creation –Web site development –Electronic publishing Educate students and scholars on copyright issues –Copyright awareness –Protecting intellectual property rights Offer institutional repositories –DSpace Assist in preservation and archiving of digital content

Strategies 1.Understand the needs of new generation students and faculty 2.Assess needs, evaluate services, conduct cost-benefit analysis 3.Implement marketing plans 4.Collaborate with other service providers to provide seamless service 5.Develop business models for running library operations
