What Israel was like at the time of Jesus
Israel is located strategically in the SW area of the Fertile Crescent.
Israel is scarcely 240km long; stretching from Lake Huleh in the north, to the Red Sea in the south. At its broadest point, the country is only 80 – 95km wide.
The main physical divisions feature the coastal plain; central hill area; rift valley and the desert.

There is a remarkable contrast between the two. Lower Galilee is one of the most fertile parts of Israel. It has rich soil and is the perfect spot for growing vegetables and crops. Whereas Judea is rugged terrain and can not be used for agriculture.
