What Israel was like at the time of Jesus

 Israel is located strategically in the SW area of the Fertile Crescent.

 Israel is scarcely 240km long; stretching from Lake Huleh in the north, to the Red Sea in the south. At its broadest point, the country is only 80 – 95km wide.

 The main physical divisions feature the coastal plain; central hill area; rift valley and the desert.

 Question: How would the environment of Israel affect Jesus’ ministry?  On page 7 of your text, complete the activity.

 There is a remarkable contrast between the two. Lower Galilee is one of the most fertile parts of Israel. It has rich soil and is the perfect spot for growing vegetables and crops.  Whereas Judea is rugged terrain and can not be used for agriculture.
