PSA Homelessness Rosa Diaz Ashlyn Wilson Ben Wooster Jaimal

Facts Homeless program in north Carolina reestablished in 2002 that gives homeless students the right to an education. Being transportation must be provided, must be immediately enrolled even if no proof of residency, school and immunization records. More than 18,587 of NC’s children are homeless or experience homelessness. Of the 443,000 children living in poverty one out of every 25 are homeless. 44% of families living in poverty are black 39% are white/ non-hispanic and 16% are Hispanic Guilford count is the nation leader in food insecurity for people and families 19% of the GC population are food insecure This leaves 1 in 4 children without enough to eat. This has negative impacts on student learning because after a weekend of not eating, it takes days for their minds to sharpen again. Lack of food frequently results in stress, anxiety and depression and negatively affect job performance and success in school. The federal government as $135,855 available to provide free/reduced price lunches to schools across the country.

Our Goal We will make a PSA announcement it is important to draw mass awareness to the issue of food insecurity before taking action. This awareness is our goal that we’ll accomplish by giving people key information on the issue and ways that they can help.

Measurable When we get 100 people to view the PSA

Attainable Yes we can see ourselves achieving this goal, and we can manage pieces.

Realistic Our goal is neither too difficult or too easy, but to make a successful PSA we need time to research and reherse.

Timely We will present/show our video or send a link of our video to people we know or present them in a class with the teachers permission.
