Digital Electronics Blocks 7 & 8 3 rd Generation Video Games

The 3 rd Generation … Came about during the “great depression” of video games also known as the video game crash of 1893, which lasted two years. The third generation covered games from The crash happened essentially because too may games were being made too quickly. (Not enough space, garbage games, etc.)

The 3 rd Generation Continued … Only 3 major companies that survived the video game crash …

Prominent 3 rd Generation Console Features … D-Pad controllers (directional pads) D-Pad allowed for side scrolling video games Better looking sprites (game characters) Better looking color Keep in mind that the 3 rd generation was still “8-bit”
