Enhancing a Presentation Using Microsoft PowerPoint By: Andrew Dodge Kate Grim Never Mekerdijian Sarah Price

Microsoft PowerPoint Supports the development and delivery of presentations Everything needed for professional appearance Used by anyone for purposes of relaying information to an audience

Purposes of PowerPoint Presentations composed of a series of slides Provides a means for developing other presentation support materials Such as handouts, transparencies, outlines, and speaker’s notes

Adding Sound Animations 1. Click the slide with the transition you are adding the sound to.

2. Click the Slide Show menu then click Slide Transition. The Slide Transition dialog box will appear.

3. Under Modify Transition, select a sound effect from the drop-down list.

4. Click the Play button below to add the sound animation to the selected slide.

FAQs How do I make my sound files invisible in Slide Show?  After inserting a sound file, there will be an icon for that file.  Select the icon.  Go to the Slide Show menu and choose Custom Animation.  On the Play Settings tab, check the box that says "Hide while not playing.” not playing.”  This will make your icon disappear in slide show.

FAQs Why don't sounds play when I move my file to another computer?  Sound files, because of their large size, don't become an actual part of the presentation file.  Instead, a link is formed to the sound file.  When the presentation is played, the sound is looked for at the link.  This works fine on the machine where the presentation was originally created.  However, when things are moved to another machine, the links don't accurately describe where the files are and sounds fail to play.  SOLUTION: PowerPoint will always look for the sound in the folder that contains the presentation, so this is the best place to put them. PowerPoint will look there regardless of what that folder's name is, or what machine it's on.
