Prairies  What Is a Prairie?  A prairie is a long, vast grassland, mainly consisting of bundles of trees, few hills and mountains and alive with all sorts of animals and insects.

Prairies  Where are the prairies?  The north American prairies are located in Canada and America. In Canada the prairies are in Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. States in the U.S. where prairies grow are as far as Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, South Dakota, and North Dakota.

Animals  What kinds of animals live on the prairie?  Lots of different animals live on the prairie, the kinds of animals are:  Primary Consumers*, such as:  Bison  Bears  Bald Eagle  Coyote  Mountain Lion  Snakes *a Primary consumer eats secondary Consumers
