Prairies What Is a Prairie? A prairie is a long, vast grassland, mainly consisting of bundles of trees, few hills and mountains and alive with all sorts of animals and insects.
Prairies Where are the prairies? The north American prairies are located in Canada and America. In Canada the prairies are in Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. States in the U.S. where prairies grow are as far as Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, South Dakota, and North Dakota.
