Objectives By the end of this you will be able to: Convert an image from one format to another

Image conversion What is the purpose of image conversion? Image conversion allows you to save an image from one format to another Each format will give different properties for each file and hence they are used for different applications

Image conversion When you have completed a drawing in SolidWorks you can save it in a number of different formats The most common of these are:.SLDPRT.SLDASM.SLDDRW

Image conversion However it is possible to save the file as a JPEG for example in SolidWorks by doing the following In the “File” menu select “Save As” When the “Save As” dialog box appears select the drop down menu on the “Save as type” to find the JPEG format

Image conversion

Once your drawing has being saved as a JPEG you can they insert it into Microsoft Word, Excel, Presentation, Publisher, etc… when compiling documents reports

Image conversion To convert an image from one format to another, a software package that you can edit the image in is needed e.g. Microsoft Paint, Microsoft Picture It!, Paint Shop Pro

These options here allow you to edit and change your picture

Image Conversion To convert an image from one format to another click on “Save As” in the “File” menu as described before

Image Conversion The “Save as” dialog box opens and you can save to a location you desire To save the file in a different format click on the “Save As Type” drop down menu

Image Conversion This will reveal a list of the different formats that you can save your file as

Now you Try! Using a drawing that you have already created in SolidWorks convert it to JPEG and then copy it into Microsoft Word or Publisher and create a Flyer giving information about the drawing
