Comparing Native Americans: Sioux and Iroquois Kong and Mashal Grade 5 ASB

Iroquois Clothing Made from buffalo (skin) Feather hat Mohawk,braids long hair

Food Killed buffalo and ate it raw (uncooked meat) Pemmecan made from buffalo fat mixed with cherry Boiled buffalo blood pudding

Housing -Built from buffalo skin(called a tipi) -Tipi is easy to put up and take down -Warm is winter, cold in summer

Iroquois Tools They use tress like oak and the main tree is Cedar tree They also use living things like animals for clothing, food and others

Iroquois Map They live near the woodlands and the river and the other tribe They live in thee Northwest Woodlands

Iroquois Name and Meaning They call themselves the “Hendousaunee”they gave the name to themselves The European Settlers gave a name which is “The Killer People ”

Sioux Clothing They use buffalo skin and bird feathers Women were long dress’s and braids losely Men were there hair with braids losely and sometimes straight with everything bold

Sioux Food They eat buffalo meat raw(uncooked) They eat boiled buffalo blood pudding its called “pemmecan”

Sioux Housing They live in tents called a tipi(teepee) They are easy to put up and put down And they move a lot so they use these tents

Sioux Tools They use animals like buffalo for clothing,food and other stuff sometimes they use bufalo skin for tents

Sioux Arts and Crafts They draw on buffalo skin and there drawing is more realistic then the European Settlers

Sioux (Something Special) Something special is that men move to women house but now its like women's move to men's house Something also special is that they like making Sundance and they dance more then 24 hours sometimes never rest
