JING Josie Stockie EDU 620 Due: September 20, 2015

ABOUT JING Jing is a video application downloaded onto a computer Jing enables users to record the computer screen instead of taking numerous screen shots Jing allows teachers to “flip the classroom”, assigning students to watch videos for homework and prepared to begin project at the next class. Jing helps students by being able to review lectures and/or technological steps as much as needed. Jing makes 5 minute videos for free and videos with unlimited length for a small annual fee.

JING PROCESS First step is to download the free app at: Once downloaded, a small yellow half circle will be at the top and center of the computer screen. See screen shot:

CONTINUED JING PROCESS To record a video, place cursor over the yellow ball. The ball will expand and the user can pick from three categories:  Capture: used to start a video  History: allows user to watch past videos  More: multiple other options for personalizing the software

CONTINUED JING PROCESS Once ready to begin a presentation/video click the “Capture” option, as shown in previous slide. Two yellow lines will appear. The lines enable the user to target what is shown in the screen and for the user to focus the video. See screenshot:

CONTINUED JING PROCESS Once pleased with the placement of the video on the computer screen, the video is ready to begin. The video will continue to record for all the users’ steps on the computer. There is no need to stop and pause, just continue the process and steps on the computer.

CONTINUED JING PROCESS Once the video and steps are complete. Press the “Stop” icon. New options will appear for the user to choose.  Review/Redo  Share via Screencast.com (online database for all of users’ videos)  Save to Computer

JING TUTORIAL VIDEOS Below are suggested videos on Jing and how one can use it

JING AND SAMR Jing can be applied to multiple components of the SAMR model. In my opinion Jing would be a Augmentation and/or Modification in regards to the model. Augmentation: Jing acts as a substitute to a screenshot with increased functionally of taking video of computer screen. Modification: In regards to computer instructions on a handout, Jing acts as a complete redesign by showing an audience how to do a certain task via technology. Thanks for viewing my presentation on Jing!
