Multiplying decimals easy as Tamara Gutiérrez 5 th period

Multiplication: A mathematical operation, symbolized by a × b, a ⋅ b, a ∗ b, or ab, and signifying, when a and b are positive integers, that a is to be added to itself as many times as there are units in b; the addition of a number to itself as often as is indicated by another number, as in 2×3 or 5×10.integers Decimal: Pertaining to tenths or to the number 10

Bruno wants to buy 8 lbs. of potatoes for Thanksgiving if each pound cost $1.16. How much would it cost for 8 lbs.? You would first put your 1.16 on the top. Then you put the 8 under it like a multiplication problem. Like this $1.16 x 8 forget about the decimals for now. Now you multiply 1 4 $1.16 6x8=48 x 8 8x1=8+4= x1=8+1=9 Now you count the decimal places are there. It’s 2. Now you move 2 decimal places to the left. Your final answer is $9.28

I can use multiplying decimals in the future by doing groceries. Seeing how much money I need if I buy a certain amount of pounds. Like saying 1 can of corn is 99 cents if I buy 5 how much would it cost?
