Magic Numbers: 2, 5, & 10 INTASC Principles that Should Implemented in Every Classroom

INTASC Standard # 2 The teacher understands how children and youth learn and develop and can provide learning opportunities that support their intellectual, social and personal development.

Meaning of Magic #2 INTASC Standard #2 means that a teacher knows who to create activities to keep them always learning and growing developmentally. Having a grade sheet that the students keep themselves with a reward system is good because it helps the students learn responsibility. Working in small groups helps the children develop socially.

Examples of Magic #2 in a Classroom Grade- Tracking Sheet with Rewards Small Groups

INTASC Standard # 5 The teacher uses an understanding of individual and group motivation and behavior to create a learning environment that encourages positive social interaction, active engagement in learning and self-motivation.

Meaning of Magic #5 INTASC Standard #5 means that a teacher knows how to make the classroom environment friendly, encouraging, and helping this or her students develop. Interactive games help the students learn and develop socially. Posters help brighten the otherwise dull room and can help children remember important things.

Examples of Magic #5 in a Classroom Posters Interactive Group Games

INTASC Standard #10 The teacher communicates and interacts with parents/guardians, families, school colleagues and the community to support students' learning and well-being.

Meaning of Magic # 10 This standard means that a teacher is willing to and actually does make connections with people in his or her community in order to enhance their student’s learning experience. This includes a teacher keeping parents informed of what happens in a classroom, talking to different staff members in the school about what to teach, and asking around the community for opportunities to help enhance the classroom learning experience, like a guest speaker or field trip.
