Tropical Savanna By: Alexis Macri

 Average Precipitation: cm per year  Temperature range: 20 C – 30C  Plants species: grasses and scattered trees  Animal species: lions, hyenas, cheetahs, elephants, giraffes, zebras, birds, and insects.  Geographical location: Africa, south America, Australia,  Abiotic Factors: Summers are hot and rainy, winters are cool and dry.

Producers 1. Jackalberry 2. Magnolia tree 3. Grass

Consumers  Lion  Zebra  Giraffe  Cheetah  Hyena

Predator/Prey Relationships  One example of a predator/prey relationship in a Savanna is between a lion and a Zebra.

 For more information on a Savanna check  avanna/default.cfm out

Endangered Species  The African elephant’s natural habitat is forested savanna. Poaching for ivory is the primary cause of its endangered status.

Effects of a human on my ecosystem (:  The human population varies as the savanna climate changes each year. The rough population spread is: ranging from two to over 100 people per square mile and roughly 45% live in urban centres, otherwise population figures are hard to come by when looking at the savanna.

Cool Fact (;  One cool fact that I learned about a Savanna is that the African Elephant is an endangered species.
