For a sound to be heard, THREE things must happen Need a source of sound -a vibration to cause the sound wave Need a medium for the wave to travel Need a sense organ to detect the sound wave

The human ear has three sections: Outer Ear -- ear lobe > ear canal > ear drum Middle Ear -- ear drum > ear bones: hammer anvil & stirrup Inner Ear -- Cochlea > auditory nerves to brain
