ttp2211xx [2] DICOM WG10 SEOUL – May 6, /28/2016 Request from Sony (Europe) l « Most of the leading vendors in Endoscopy and Microsurgery assured us that they have people that can participate in the Working group. l We think we can collect expertise from the known vendors and Sony MPEG experts to start this process. l Olympus Hamburg, Keymed UK (Olympus repr. UK and Middle East), Karl Storz, Aesculap, Wolf, Carl Zeiss, Pentax Medical and Fujinon Medical. These are the most important manufacturers of Rigid- and Flexible Endoscopes and Surgical Microscope. l As a chairman we hope we can propose a German Professor, fully known with Dicom, the committee and the Endoscopy modality. »

ttp2211xx [3] DICOM WG10 SEOUL – May 6, /28/2016 Objectives of the work Item, seen by Sony l « Streaming video will be widespread introduced for many applications this coming months, based on the many "boxes" that have been developed. On the mid-term the demand for a standard for streaming video will be stronger. For the moment a Dicom standard for file based MPEG-2 is a really strong demand as several vendors are now inventing to "record" video on a CD adding metadata in their propriety standard. l If it will takes too long for a standard the danger is that one or more of these propriety standards have a considerable installed base of equipment. As Dicom will be the de-facto standard for diagnostic (Still) imaging in Endoscopy, Microsurgery, Gynaecology, Ophthalmology and ENT in the coming years, it is important to add the possibility of video clips, as they call these MPEG footage. »
