Great Smoky Mountains By Christian

Landforms The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is made up of mountains. Over millions of years ago erosion has changed the Smoky Mountains. Today the highest peaks in the Smoky Mountains are less than 7,000 feet and 2,1000 meters above sea level. The Smoky Mountains formed when plates below the sedimentary rocks met also plates are large sheet of soft rock that makes the earth’s crust

Location Region – Southeast States – Tennessee and North Carolina Capitals – Nashville and Raven Latitude °N and °N Longitude °W and °W

Culture The Cherokee Indian began living in the Smoky Mountains in 1213 BC. After the Cherokee Indians came, the settlers came in the 1800’s. 9.4 million tourists came to the park in 2010.

Waterways The Grotto Ralls due to strong currents and an undertow swimming in the pool is extremely dangerous The Great Smoky Mountains National Park has about 2115 miles of steams within its boundaries. It is one of the lost wild trout habitats in the United States. Wind and rain have warn away the mountain tops, also streams and rivers have washed soil down the mountain tops

Rocks and Minerals The Great Smoky Mountains are made of mostly sedimentary rock. Over time the soil at the bottom of the sea hardened into layers of rock Pressure caused the sedimentary rock to fold and lift underwater
