Mobile Games Development SET 09105

Learning Outcomes LO1:Design, develop, test and demonstrate a working game for a mobile device. LO2:Demonstrate an understanding of the technologies used in modern game design. LO3:Interpret human needs and expectations in the context of mobile games.

Support and Assessment

Syllabus Overview of game types Game design methodology Game architecture Interaction design Game psychology Game platforms and engines Java 2D, sprites and sound on mobile platforms

Assessment 50% Coursework –Design, write and demonstrate a game for the mobile phone 50% Exam –Timetabled for weeks 14 or 15 –Mainly on the lecture content, though any part of the course is fair game (e.g. directed study or tutorial work.)

Teaching Pattern Weekly class contact consists of a two hour lecture and a two hour tutorial. You should expect to spend twelve additional hours a week in independent and directed study. Lectures will support the tutorials, but there will be only a weak coupling.

Reading List There is a reading list in the Module Organiser. The library is busy acquiring / has already acquired a few copies of each book.
