Biodolomer® Pouch

Mother Earth is at risk ”During the last 30 years we have consumed just as much from the World´s resources as mankind has done earlier during the whole history of Earth.”

GAIA’s solution ”GAIA gives back to the Earth and follows the Earth´s own recycling system.”

Back to Nature Picture: european-bioplastics.org

Potato starch Dolomite (chalk) 100% degradable polyester Biodolomer® Bags Focus on Local Material

Dolomite? Dolomite is the Earth's own construction material and can be found anywhere in nature. Soils without fertilizer added might result in poor growth. If the soil is too acid, calcium is required and calcium contains dolomite. Dolomite is alkaline and neutralizes acidity. Therefore, spread lime containing dolomite in the forests, lakes and recycling facilities. Dolomite is added to the culture medium to raise the pH interval and calcium and magnesium to the plants, which is needed for good growth. Dolomite dissolves slowly to prevent acidification. Therefore, Dolomite is spread over fields, lakes, forests in order to neutralize pH. Dolomite also contains trace elements such as silicon oxide for improved growth. Silica provides mineral nutrition, mechanical strength and resistance to fungal diseases in plants. Alumina is needed to control phosphate leaching from the soil.

Certificate Approved according to EN standard for degradability. Additionally approved for home composting.

Biodolomer® Pouch can be fully sealed. The Biodolomer® Pouch holds, i.e., it does not break. Cleaner environment in the garbage room. No maggots and insects. No bad smell in the garbage room. Biodolomer® Pocuh does not freeze and therefore does not freeze solids to each other. Waste bins can contain more waste and waste bags, since Biodolomer® Pouch are softer than paper bags. Less waste bins needed in the garbage room than with paper bags due to dustbins packed more efficiently. Regular need for washing of the bins reduced. The platforms of the garbage trucks are kept cleaner which reduces corrosion. More household waste collected. Germs can easily penetrate the paper bag, especially when wet. Biodolomer® Pouch holds only a minimum amount of germ, i.e. strong reduction of bacteria that can be transmitted to the person handling the bag. Easier for the elderly to handle Advantages / end-user comments Biodolomer® Bags

End-user survey Having used paper bags earlier YESNo Do you recycle more now with the new Biodolomer Pouch? 53%47% SuitableToo small Is the Biodolomer Pouch suitable in size? 99%1% GoodBad Does the Biodolomer Bag fit into the bag holder? 95%2% GoodBad On the whole – how does the Biodolomer Pouch do the job? 100%0% YESNo Would you recommend others to use the Biodolomer Pouch? 100%0% Biodolomer Pouch is more expensive than a paper bag. YESNo Would it be worth a tax increase by 30 SEK/year? 92%8% Comment from one household: “If we are not allowed to use the Biodolomer Pouch, we will move from the municipality”

Summary Biodolomer® Pouch has great advantages at food waste separation in households. Hygiene and safety are affected positively during the whole process of waste collection and waste handling. Biodolomer® Bags containing food waste stored temporarily and pre treated, show good results at all waste handling plants tested. Biodolomer® Pouch does not negatively affect substrate preparation and biogas digestion. Biodolomer® Pouch reduces the pre-treatment reject and contributes to good composting of residual fraction.
