Disconnector Switches and Earth Switches
Standards IEC 62271-102 High-voltage alternating current disconnectors and earthing switches
Defenition Disconnectors are used for galvanic isolation of networks or sections of switchgear installations. As an independent air-insulated device, they form a visible isolating distance in their open position. They are suitable for switching small currents (< 0.5 A) or also larger currents if the voltage does not change significantly between the contacts of a disconnector pole during switching (commutation currents).
