The Asian Gang By Rukshana Begum

The Causes of the Asian Gang  Cultural conflict;  Generation gap;  Lack of parental control;  Alienation; and  Despair.

The labelling of the British Muslims  Negativity;  Deprivation;  Disadvantaged; and  Alienation.

Setting the stereotype image: 1 The East End is fast becoming a neighbourhood of ghettos, a breeding ground of intolerance and violence frustration….racial violence has been increasing several years, but the Asian Gangs are a new phenomenon, and the increasing frequency of their confrontation is a sign, many fears, of things to come ( Independent, )

Setting the stereotype image: 2 The gangs, predominantly youngsters from Bangladeshi families, take their inspiration from Afro-American culture. Mimicking gangs in L.A., they wear hooded jackets and baggy jeans and listen to the rap and ragga music. An increase in drug taking and dealing amongst young Asian has happened in tandem

Discovery: the core potential problems The first generation of Bengalis born in the area are now reaching adulthood. Their formative influences largely overlapped with those which shaped the values of their white peers: television, poor quality housing, inner-city streets, and long term unemployment. It is unsurprising that they are prepared to react to violence in the same way as their white counterparts (Observer, )
