Design for 5 a day animation ( My story board ) By Tasha Hallett Click for 5 a day song

Purpose and audience of my animation. My target audience is older children/young teenagers. Around 10 years old. I have been asked to show healthy living. My animation will show what foods are the healthy ones and what are the unhealthy foods; also it will include the foods that don’t count as one of the 5 a day. My animation is to try and persuade people (or convince) to live a more healthy life style by eating more healthy foods and having a lower intake of fatty foods (unhealthy). I will do/ show this by showing the healthy foods, unhealthy foods, bad restaurants(take a way's) and portion sizes. My presentation will last for 34 seconds long. Throughout the animation the 5 a day song will play

Title Slide (alternatives) Going to have “5 a day” in big letters on the side of the screen. The title will appear on the screen for 2 seconds then will dissolve off the screen. The background will be red because it’s the colour of apples. There will also be the 5 a day logo. Zoom in on the title My alternatives for this slide would of been to change the way of the title set up and the length it was up for. Also, i would changed the colour of the background to green along with using pictures of healthy food instead of the 5 a day logo.

5 A DAY

CHANGED title slide I changed the amount of seconds to this slide to 2.5 seconds because it gave a better look at the pictures. I changed the pictures used in this scene because it made the scene seem more alive and gives more to look at. I also changed the background colour to green because it links in better with the healthy eating subject and its easier on the eyes.

Opening Scene (alternatives) For the opening scene fruit will keep flying on to the screen till screen is nearly full. The background will still be red. This will last for 5 seconds. On top will be the writing ‘5 a day’ The techniques used are close up zoom and panning. My alternatives for this slide would of been to not use as much food and instead use some sort of form of writing to give a good eating message.

CHANGED scene I changed the background colour to green because it links in better with the healthy eating subject and its easier on the eyes. I changed the time length to 5 seconds instead of 7 because 7 seconds was to long and it gets boring to watch. The amount of pictures used is less to what I had planned because it got to busy on the screen.

The next page (alternatives) On the next page it will have food that does not count as healthy food. For example: Chocolate, Chips, Doughnuts, Crisps. Also it will have potato pictures and writing next to it saying how they don’t count as part of your 5 a day. Zoom on potatoes This slide will last for 5 seconds. This page’s alternatives would be not to use as much pictures but instead use more quick healthy eating techniques.

CHANGED scene I changed the background colour to green because it links in better with the healthy eating subject and its easier on the eyes. I also changed the unhealthy pictures in the scene that will fly in because it is distracting from the message ‘potatoes don't count as one of your 5 a day’ that moves up the scene. The time length is the same as the plan.

UNHEALTHY FOODS Potatoes don’t count as one of your 5 a day.

Next.. (alternatives) Interesting facts about 5 a day. 4 facts on 5 a day. This slide will last for 6 seconds. It will loop continuously My alternatives for this scene was to make the page better by including pictures and some animations.

CHANGED scene This scene lasts for 5.2 seconds because it was not long enough for 6 seconds. I changed the background colour to green because it links in better with the healthy eating subject and its easier on the eyes. The writing did not happen because it would of taken to long for the audience to read it and it did not fit entirely in with the age range for this animation. Instead it is pictures of unhealthy food with a big 5 a day logo taking over the page.

5 A DAY FACTS! 1. Potatoes don’t count! Potatoes are vegetables, they don’t count towards your 5-A-DAY. This is because they contribute mainly carbohydrate to your diet. 2. Don’t be fooled by fruit juice. Juices do count as one of your 5-A-DAY, but only one glass. You should only be getting 1-2 of your 5-a-day from juices and smoothies. 3. Fruit and vegetables in takeaways can count towards your 5-A-DAY. However, takeaways and other ready-made foods can be high in added fat, salt and sugar. 4. It isn’t enough to rely on vitamin pills or other dietary supplements. They do not count in your 5-a-day; the health benefits gained from eating fruit and vegetables, such as fibre, are not provided through supplements.

Then.. A picture about what classes as a portion e.g. Sizes, amounts. Portion ideas e.g. For fresh fruit, fresh vegetables. This slide will last for 6 seconds. Pan to next slide The words will fly across the screen. My animation is about healthy eating and encouraging people to eat more fruit and why that helps.

CHANGED scene This scene swapped place with the last scene because it seemed right to put it in before. I changed the background colour to green because it links in better with the healthy eating subject and its easier on the eyes. For the scene that would of been here, the message in the writing is still there, the facts, but the pictures of the fruit is not because it takes away the attention of the important part. Now the message it there is some fruit following onto the screen after. The time changed from 6 seconds to only 5.4 seconds.

5 a day portion sizes!! Here are some portion ideas: Fresh fruit - Two or more small fruit (e.g. two plums), one medium-sized fruit (e.g. an apple) or half a large fruit (e.g. half a grapefruit) count as one of your 5-A-DAY. Fresh vegetables - Two broccoli spears or four heaped tablespoons of spinach or green beans. A medium sized piece of salad vegetables (e.g. one medium tomato, 5 cm

Then.. Fast food restaurants. E.g. Pizza hut, McDonalds, Herbies, Dominos pizza, Chinese/ Indian/ Tai food Takeaway, Mexican, Italian, Subway, KFC, Fish and Chips, Burger King. This slide will last for 6 seconds. Then it will be the end if the slide show. Zoom on dominos and subway I got the animations from either Google or various healthy food websites.

CHANGED scene This scene swapped place with the one before. I changed the background colour to green because it links in better with the healthy eating subject and its easier on the eyes. This scene is the same as the plan. This scene lasts for 6.8 seconds when the plan says 6 seconds this is because you can watch the slide for longer.

Justification I have chosen to design my animation in the way I did because I thing it suits the aim of its purpose. It is also colourful and has a lot of pictures that suit the age range which is 10 years old. This animation design works because it supports with the target theme, healthy eating, by giving messages and tips to a healthier life style and how they can achieve that.
