WHO ARE YOU IN CHRIST?

A NEW IDENTITY: YOUR NEW STANDING WITH GOD

Mephibosheth.

Romans 8:15 “For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption. And by him we cry, "Abba, Father."

I. GOD DESIRES YOUR FELLOWSHIP WITH HIM!

2 Timothy 1:7- “God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”

Because you are a child of God you can know that He will love you, protect you, provide for you, plan for you, hear you, acknowledge you, claim you, chasten you, correct you and honor you.

II. GOD GIVES YOU ASSURANCE THAT YOU ARE HIS CHILD.

Romans 8:16: “The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children.”

How does the Spirit testify to us? - He helps us in any situation! -He teaches us what the Bible is saying to us. -He magnifies the importance of Jesus in our lives. -He gives us love for others.

III. GOD GIVES YOU AN INHERITANCE.

Romans 8:17 Now if we are children, then we are heirs--heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.”

Nothing can take this away- not famine, depressions, thieves, swindlers, bad markets, etc. NOTHING!
