What is this Picture? Byzantine painting/icon of the Christ child and his mother Mary. Classified as early 15 th century “Christian Art”. This description contains both attribution and anchoring blocks to reflective practice. What do you see?

What story do you see?

What Story do you see? The ever-present need of “Singular Connection” in human existence. The Narrative Story being shared between child and mother.

Is there reflection within the painting?

ROA: The child contemplating his passion to come RIA: Mary’s gaze on us, the audience, sadness as her expression, seeing our struggles, beckoning us to reflect.

Is there Transformation? Does a form of “knowing” undergo a change?

Is there Transformation? Does the form of “knowing” undergo a change? Here the “Infinite” becomes the temporal, a change from timeless divinity to human solidarity, unity with Mary.

Is their a Level beyond the 7 th ? Is there transformation beyond a form of “knowing” through evaluation? Augustine focused meaning on more than the demand of “Absolute Proof”, what then is this called?

Reflection What do I see in the solitude of thought? What has the noise been covering? Has my perception altered my sight, and towards what course do I travel? Try though my will to challenge each step, forcing my mind to extend. Within each day some progress advanced, Yet for myself to discover.
