DISTANCE LEARNING IN THE CLASSROOM BY: LAUREN DENSIC, BRITT GERKIN, JASMYN SIMS

WHAT IS DISTANCE LEARNING? Distance learning is defined as institution-based, formal education where the learning group is separated and where interactive telecommunications systems are used to connect learners, resources and instructors. It includes things such as PSO (post secondary option), ECOT () and OVA (Ohio Virtual Academy), and ACOT ( Online/distance learning is continuously growing

POST SECONDARY OPTION Post Secondary Option classes are classes that high school kids can take for which they get dual credit for their secondary school and for college at the same time. Most PSO credit is given and taken online.

PROS AND CONS ProsCons Convenience: no actual class attendance Time management and Self - discipline Flexibility: students have the luxury of doing the work on their own time Need of computer and internet access Use of computer technology: good for those who are technologically literate Not good for those who are not technologically competent Free to students: saving later tuition costs; books are free If course is failed, the course itself, and the book must be paid for
