TEKS Social Studies (4) Geography. The student understands how humans adapt to variations in the physical environment. The student is expected to: –(A) describe and explain variations in the physical environment including climate, landforms, natural resources, and natural hazards; –(C) identify and use the compass rose, grid, and symbols to locate places on maps and globes; –A) identify the heroic deeds of state and national heroes such as Daniel Boone and Davy Crockett. Fine Arts (5) Historical/cultural heritage. The student relates music to history, to society, and to culture. The student is expected to (B) perform songs and musical games from diverse cultures (B) participate in a variety of roles in real life and imaginative situations through narrative pantomime, dramatic play, and story dramatization; Language Arts (6) Reading/fluency. The student reads with fluency and understanding in texts at appropriate difficulty levels. The student is expected to: (A) read regularly in independent-level materials (texts in which no more than approximately 1 in 20 words is difficult for the reader) (3); (14) Writing/purposes. The student writes for a variety of audiences and purposes and in various forms. The student is expected to: (A) write to record ideas and reflections (K-3);
