Plan with SAM from the Start! Thinking of having an upcoming event or campaign? Get in touch with SAM right away and set up a meeting! We can help you… What is the motivation for the event or campaign? Who is the audience? What is the best way to reach them? What is the most effective name for the event? What are the best ways/mediums to promote to this audience? How can we use social media best? How can we track the effectiveness for this campaign or event? And more!

Which Graphics Work Best for What Mediums?

Swiping Events Did you know you can keep track of who came to your event?

Top 5 Cascade Mistakes

1.Naming and placement of system names & files All system names (pages, images, pdfs, word docs-anything that goes in the yellow folder) must be named all lowercase and no spaces or underscores, only hyphens Each file should be named appropriately, not a number, but a descriptive title that will make sense to any user. All files uploaded to Cascade must be put into an ‘assets’ folder, not laying out in the main folder. INCORRECT 2376.Jpg RSVP_signup.pdf CORRECT jill-norton-headshot.jpg rsvp-wellness-workshop.pdf

2. Forgetting to unformat text before copying When copying text from and , word doc, pdf or even another website, it is really important you remember to click that little ‘t’ before you paste. This will remove any preformatting from the previous document that Cascade will not like You will need to reformat, re-do bullet points, hyperlinks, etc. but it will save you time down the road trying to fix things acting weird in Cascade.

3.Naming Folders & Pages Make sure you name your folders and pages different names. (ie. If you have a folder or header called ‘Resources’, don’t create a page within it called ‘Resources’. Give each page and folder a unique name to make it easy to locate in the directory. Keep in mind the names you give to pages become part of the URL for that page. Anytime, you want to change the name of a page, the URL will change which can effect any links that exist out there to that page. When necessary, a redirect might need to be requested from WebComm.

4. Using Bold or Italic to bring out Copy Bold & Italic may seem to work when you are in Cascade, but do not work on all browsers Your edit in Cascade How it looks when published

4. Using Bold or Italic to bring out Copy I recommend restructuring your text to use Heading 3 with copy beneath.

Carousels are a critical part of your website. They are the face of your site, they are the first impression. They are created to drive users in to your site for more information. They are the number 1 thing I am going to be ing you about. 5.CAROUSEL DOS & DONTS

5a.They MUST be Photos! DON’T DO!

5b.They MUST be high quality photos! 5c. Keep message to 1 line DON’T DO!

5d. Keep them Fresh and Current Check weekly for past events or out of date items 5e. Make Sure links are Working Especially for External Sites or other departments

Photography Workshop 1.Taking photos your Carousel 2.Creating a Carousel image for Cascade in Photoshop

Taking Photos for Carousel Keep in mind the 750 x 300 perspective Wide and long Keep in mind your message in the lower right corner. Try to avoid using flash and be creative with light Keep the focus up close and to the left Don’t try to fit all of the information, just try to draw users attention to click for more information.
