Collecting Data: Blank Performance Diagnostic Charts Create a set of charts for each grade and subject

Activity Have each district write their assigned number on any performance diagnostic chart where the district demonstrated more than one year’s growth with a group of students in a certain performance level Assign 2-3 districts to a set of Performance Diagnostic charts to serve as a start point

At-a-Glance Analysis Have the group review the Performance Diagnostic charts around the room and asked: What do you see?

Result: Regional Report Copy of report given to: – District Assistant Supt – District Special Ed Directors Report Included: – Regional Data – Guiding Questions

What are some appropriate questions to ask within my district or to other districts who have demonstrated more than a year’s worth of academic growth with a subject and particular performance level?

How many students are in the group that made more than one year’s worth of academic growth? Is this growth unique to the most recent year or are you seeing this pattern in previous cohorts (gold bars on graph) as well? Is the growth of the subgroup reflective of the growth of the entire grade level?

What does the Tier 1/Core Program look like in your district? How much time is allocated for the core content areas? Who delivers the regular education curriculum to students? Where do they receive this instruction? What instructional approaches are used? What does differentiating instruction look like the in the classrooms of your district/schools?

What does student-level planning look like in your district? What data are used? What is the protocol for the meetings? How are plans of action developed? Have there been additional tutoring efforts focused on students in a particular performance group or subject area? What types and levels of interventions are used? How is fidelity of implementation monitored? What amount of time has been allocated for interventions? Who provides the interventions? What has been the focus of professional development? How and when has professional development been delivered?
