Election of 1800 Jefferson's win ended the reign of the Federalists in Exec/Leg. Branches Jefferson and Burr tied w/ 73 electoral votes each Hamilton cast his support to Jefferson, ending the tie 12th Amendment allows for president /VP to run on the same ticket.
