Genocide in Darfur Brought to you by: Hunter Blommer, and Alec Syvrud
Darfur is a small part of Sudan with a big problem…
A Genocide
The genocide in Darfur is an ongoing problem That has been happening since 2003.
Black Arab Sudanese called the Janjaweed, who are also sponsored by the Sudanese government, mount horses and ride into small farming villages with ak-47’s, usually killing everyone…
But they aren’t done yet.
The Janjaweed burn all the houses and throw the dead bodies into the wells to contaminate the water.
Those who are fortunate enough to survive the attack usually don’t survive the deadly Sahara sun without shelter and water.
When the Janjaweed come into the villages many of the villages children are working in the fields herding cattle.
When the children hear the gunfire most of them run, some go back and seal their fate.
Many young Sudanese children have ran to neighboring countries to live in refugee camps.
The trip to these camps are very long and very gruesome.
A lot of the boys die of dehydration, Some are taken by lions and hyenas, Sometimes the Janjaweed catches up…
At river crossings the Janjaweed hides in brush waiting for the lost boys…
When the lost boys are swimming across the river, the Janjaweed opens fire killing hundreds of the lost boys.
Some try to flee by going down current but are usually battered against rocks in the raging rivers.
MOST OF THESE YOUNG CHILDREN WILL LIVE THE REST OF THEIR LIVES WITHOUT PARENTS.
Some of the boys get a scholarship to come to the United States and try to live a normal life.
Some die at the Refugee camps
We need to help these children and stop the violence.
Genocide is NOT ok
