Presentation transcript:

Summary A young boy wakes up and finds himself in darkness. His only memory is his name, Thomas. Bright shining light enters the room as the top doors swing open. Thomas is lifted up to this new world. A group of teenage boys greet him. They explain to Thomas that he is in the Glade, a large open field full of teenagers with jobs like farming and building. When Thomas asks what the stone border around the Glade is, one small chubby replies “Somewhere you hopefully will never have to be.” A maze. A deadly maze full of monsters. The border around the field last for miles and miles of unsolvable mystery. Many Gladers have tried solving it by going in, but most end up dead. Thomas realizes that he wants to train, and try to solve the maze. As he trains and learns the ways of the Gladers, soon the next poor victim comes. But this time it is something way different, a girl. Even stranger, she delivers a message, “The end is near. The end is near. The end is near…” Will the Gladers and Thomas survive? Will Thomas be forced to go in a maze full of monsters? Will “the end” kill them? Read The Maze Runner to find out.

R – Letter to Author James Dashner Dear Mr. Dashner, I read your book Maze Runner and love it so much I did a report on it. I have a couple of questions to ask you about the book: 1. What happens to Gally after he passes out? 2. How long has the Flare been around for? 3. What happened to the people who stayed back and never went into the maze? 4. Where is the maze located in the real world? Wouldn’t the sun flares have destroyed it? Thank you for you time, Blaise-

E – Venn Diagram Comparison Maze Runner -Wicked -Thomas is part of an elite group of teenagers -Thomas has no memory of his past life -Has a worldwide disease called The Flare Both -Takes place in futuristic world -Have an overpowering organization controlling them -Both protagonist are teenagers -Both are rebellious, and being closely watched Hunger Games -The Capitol -The Hunger Games has people fighting people, and has rules where as the Maze has hardly any rules, and is people fighting monsters -Has a actual antagonist, President Snow

Thanks for watching!
