XXXX The recipe

At nearly 40, Alina and Fran have decided it is the right time to have children now,everything seems to be going for it: you want kids, have a job, you are still young... well that's what they believe, because they soon discover that Fran’s semen is a mess and Alina's eggs are about to expire. You go for invitro fertilization, a long and uncertain treatment that begins with disagreements: Alina is very clear, you have to go all the way; Fran, not quite, "If we cannot, nothing happens, we can be happy without having children." The thought of injections, revolutionized hormones and frozen embryos also begins distancing Fran. Alina thinks about her future son and Fran about his work project. Alina is lonely, Fran prefers to be alone. At the worst point in the middle of something that should unite them forever, Alina and Fran decide to separate. But though they don’t know it, it is a temporary separation, because life has reserved for them a pirouette of which only happens when two people who are destined, despite themselves, to be together. PREGNANT talks about how difficult it has become these days to have children and about how much we have all achieved something so essential and converted it into a strange tangled event that has no place in our way of life.
