What is Université Sainte-Anne? Nova Scotia’s only francophone university Has five campuses, Pointe-de-l’Église, Tusket, Petit-de-Grate, Sainte-Joseph-du- Moine and Halifax Small student body, approximately 450

The objectives of this trip are: to provide an opportunity for students to be totally immersed in French; to provide a cultural awareness of francophone communities in Nova Scotia; to provide an opportunity for students to apply their knowledge of the French language in authentic situations (listening and speaking); to deepen students’ understanding on how language and culture are interconnected.

There will be two methods of payment: One full payment of $ on or before Tuesday April 15th, PLEASE NOTE* If your child is participating in fundraising, please hold onto trip payment until April 15 th so that a calculation can be made to determine your reduced trip payment amount. Three payments of $150.00, $50.00, and $50.00 respectively on March 11th, March 30th, and April 15th, All cheques are to be made payable to Musquodoboit Rural High school. All costs for transportation, food and activities at the university are included in this price.

Expectations for students during their stay at Université Sainte-Anne 1. Students will speak French at all times. A contract will be signed by each student, stating that she/he understands the purpose of the trip and will make all efforts to speak French. 2. Students will attend scheduled events. 3. Students will respect the established curfew hours. 4. Students are not permitted to leave the university campus unattended.

Expectations for students during their stay at Université Sainte-Anne 5. There will be 1 key per room. If the key is lost, there will be a $25.00 fee charged by the University to get another one. 6. The University is not responsible for stolen articles. 7. Smoking and the consumption of alcohol are not permitted at any time.

Expectations for students during their stay at Université Sainte-Anne 8. Because of limited baggage space on the buses, only 1 suitcase is permitted. Identify it clearly with your name and the name of your school. 9. Buses must be cleaned before arrival at your destination, 10. Rooms must be kept tidy. Room inspections will be done.

Expectations for students during their stay at Université Sainte-Anne 11. iPads, tablets and cell phones are not allowed. 12. English books / magazines are not allowed. 13. School expectations regarding such issues as appropriate behavior, language, and dress code are in effect for the duration of the trip. Failure to do this will be met by warnings and privileges will be taken away. Any teachers, chaperons, and University’s monitors / animators can give a warning to a student. Names will be given to the student’s teacher

Material needed 1. Personal items:  Towels and facecloths  soap and deodorant  toothbrush and toothpaste  Any medication that your child may be required to take. Please inform your child’s teacher if your student will be taking medication during the week of the trip, including the type of medication and dosage. This information is necessary in case of a medical emergency involving your child.  TEACHERS AND CHAPERONES ARE NOT PERMITTED TO ADMINISTER MEDICATIONS TO STUDENTS.  roommates can share: alarm clock, hair dryer, curling/straightening iron, pillow (optional)

Material needed 1. Clothing:  gym wear, sneakers,  bathing suit, beach or bath towels,  boots, extra socks/sneakers (if weather is wet),  casual wear for activities (ie. the dance).

Material needed School supplies:  1 notebook for journal or reflection log,  pens, pencils, erasers,  small French / English dictionary,  French books or magazines (optional).

Material needed Sports equipment:  tennis racquet (optional)  baseball gloves and ball(s) (optional) Food:  *- Bring a lunch for the trip down to the university.  Munchies, juice, etc. may be kept in the residence

Material needed Spending money: There is a store on campus at which students can buy souvenirs, t-shirts, etc. A debit machine is available at the souvenir shop on campus. Teachers and chaperons will not be responsible for safeguarding students’ cash.
