The Great Gatsby Research Hints T. Moore 22 March 2015

For general help on the research process and writing research papers, go to: NDHS Library website - Databases - Ebscohost - Literary Reference Center - Under “Reference Shelf” there is a Research Guide which takes you through step-by-step!

EasyBib IF your teacher allows it, EasyBib is a good way of taking notes and creating your citations/Works Cited page. From NDHS Library website go to: - Databases -EasyBib Sign up using your Dallas ISD address (S+ID e.g., Pro: easy to use Con: not all citations are correctly done- you’ll need to double check them!

ABC-CLIO From the NDHS Library website: - Databases - ABC-CLIO - Check the box next to “American History” (DON’T search all databases at once – you’ll be sorry if you do!) - Put your topic in the search box and click on “Go” - Your searches will show as a blue link “American History” along with the number of results. Click on that link. - From there you can narrow your search using the filter on the left (I recommend Reference Articles and pictures (if you need pictures).

Databases From the NDHS Library website: - Databases - EBSCO - EBSCOhost Web - Choose History Reference Center AND Academic Search Complete AND MasterFile Premier Then click continue. **Choose Fulltext as your option! Then put in your search Pros: Can set up an account and save all articles to a folder and read them later or them to yourself. Will properly site the article for you to cut and paste to your Works Cited page. Con: Not all topics you want are covered

Put The Great Gatsby in “ “ (e.g., “The Great Gatsby” Also put your subtopic in “ “ if it is more than one word Limit your search to college websites by site:.edu For example “The Great Gatsby” “green light” site:.edu Google
