What is Nutrisystem? It is a 28 day diet plan You receive pre-packaged meals for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, dessert During week 1, you receive a Fast 5+ kit, which provides you with preselected breakfasts, lunches, and dinners. You also have to drink two shakes a day. This is a specific plan for quick results. Then after week one, your next three weeks you are given a Nutrisystem meal planner and get to choose from the planner what meals you would like to eat, along with your own grocery fresh produce to receive the most beneficial results.

Claims and Quackery Claim: “You will loose 5 pounds in your first week through the Nutrisystem Fast 5 and then loose one to two pounds each week after that.” This diet also claims that loosing weight is easier if you meal management which is what this Nutrisystem does. Quackery: “Loosing weight enjoying your favorite foods like Buttermilk Waffles, Margherita Pizza, Chocolate Pretzels and more that make it easy to stay on track and reach your goal.” This is a statement found on the Nutrisystem website. They claim you will be loosing weight by eating their foods. They don’t emphasize that you have to add fresh produce into your diet and exercise in order to receive effective results. On the website they have some things written in small letters that say basically results will vary based on weight and program devotion.

Safe benefits/Risks Safe Benefits It is beneficial for people who have heart disease, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol because the meals are low in sodium, saturated fats and trans fats. It is beneficial because you are given a variety of foods that are in proportioned. You are not eating the same thing over and over again. It provides 6 meals a day: breakfast, lunch, dinner and two snacks. Risks The diet is not safe because it not healthy to loose 5 pounds in one week. This can be a risk to one’s health. If one does not include any fresh grocery produce, they will not be receiving the proper nutrients there body needs. There body will not be functioning properly. The diet doesn't’t provide enough calories. This can be a risk to one’s health because the body isn't receiving enough nutrients. Do we recommend this diet? Yes, as long as you provide fresh grocery produce with the diet.
