CV Industrial Control SystemsJCOV Meeting October 23, 2003 ST/CV ACTIVITY Industrial Automation ST/CV is responsible for the design and implementation of the Process Control layer (closed loop feedback) based on the specification from the sub detector (operational mode & temperature range required).. The experiment is responsible for the operation of the secondary cooling circuit with the possibility to change regulation loop parameters to start stop circuit, set interlock, changes required operational modes.. The experiment would not need or have access to the low level of Commands to act on individual pieces of equipment (controlled valves, pumps, etc..)

CV Industrial Control SystemsJCOV Meeting October 23, 2003 ST/CV ACTIVITY Industrial Automation ST/CV is responsible for the maintenance of this control system and will Monitor the system via its SCADA system (Wizcon). No any action could be taken whilst the circuit is being operated by the Experiment Only one party must be able to control the circuit at any time.. The next step of the design stage includes the preparation of the User Requirement document to describe the level of the Process Operational Interaction and interface requirement (collaboration with the JCOP.. Wayne Salter)

CV Industrial Control SystemsJCOV Meeting October 23, 2003 CV Control System Architecture

CV Industrial Control SystemsJCOV Meeting October 23, 2003 Process automation Layer The analysis of the control command has to enable the complexity to be overcome by the different function and running modes of the process being understood In the CV production plants the control command system is very autonomous and the intervention is limited only when failures occur in the plant equipments or in the CC system The Autonomy of the control-command system defines the Automation level of the human machine system the analysis of the control command takes a particular Importance for the design of the different supervision level

CV Industrial Control SystemsJCOV Meeting October 23, 2003 Supervision Layer Supervision consists of taking the actions of commanding a process and supervising it working. Considering the increasing complexity of the CV Production Plants and subsequently the high level of automation the Supervisory System design becomes more sensitive and analyse is centred on the definition of the needs required by the different level of supervision Important data linked to the process are collected from the supervision systems to meet the needs required by the level of supervision considered.

CV Industrial Control SystemsJCOV Meeting October 23, 2003 Supervision Layer CV Local supervision: Must important source of information Access to measurable information in relation with parent process or any child process. Information and means are given to technician and maintenance operator to perform local plant operation. Experiment Control Room: Supervision of the secondary cooling circuits Access to change regulation set point, start stop circuit, set interlock, change functionality of cooling circuits. Information and means are given to the ECR to supervise the operation of the dedicated secondary cooling circuits. Technical Control Room: Global vision of the CV installations The view of the installations and operation is global. Operators must access pertinent information, (without special knowledge about the process). Information and means concerning the evolution of the process state must permit results of TCR operator’s action to be checked quickly.

CV Industrial Control SystemsJCOV Meeting October 23, 2003 PROCESS ORGANISATION Cooling and Ventilation Plants can be classified as Continuous Processes with Batch Operations : Material are passed in a continuous flow through various processing equipment. Once established in a steady operating state the nature of the process in not dependent on the length of time operation. Batch operation addressed to the production of materials when a defined order of processing actions using one or more plant equipment is required

CV Industrial Control SystemsJCOV Meeting October 23, 2003 PROCESS MODEL Process stage Process operation Process action Primary circuit in Automatic mode Secondary circuit In manual mode Start procedure Stop procedure Start ordered process operations Prepare circuit Change local and underground set point Introduce regulation parameters Open controlled valve Start pump Test interlock Cooling process

CV Industrial Control SystemsJCOV Meeting October 23, 2003 MODE A mode determines how equipment entities and procedural elements respond to commands For procedural elements the mode determines the way the transition are treated AUTOMATIC In the AUTOMATIC mode the transition takes place without interruption when transitions conditions are fulfilled. SEMI-AUTOMATIC In the SEMI-AUTOMATIC mode the procedure requires manual approval to proceed after the transition. MANUAL In the MANUAL mode the procedural elements and their order of execution are specified manually.

CV Industrial Control SystemsJCOV Meeting October 23, 2003 PROCESS MODES FOR EXPERIMENT COOLING CIRCUIT ModesBehaviorCommand AutomaticTransition carried out without InterruptionTCR operator starts procedure only for “Primary circuit” ECR operators my pause the progression for the secondary cooling circuit but may not force transition Semi- Automatic Transition within a procedure are carried out on manual commands as appropriate conditions are fulfilled CV operators may pause the progression or re- direct the execution to an appropriate point for both primary and secondary circuit Transient may not be forced ECR operators may change process operation parameters on secondary circuit ManualThe procedural elements within a procedure are executed in the order specified by the operator Primary circuit equipment may be manipulated directly by CV operator Secondary circuit equipment may be manipulated directly by ECR operator
