Independent Reading Project 1 DUE DATE: SEPTEMBER 28
You should presently be reading a book on your own.
You should be considering what type of project you will complete for the book. a two-three page paper a self-contained power- point presentation an artistic representation a speech
Look at your project as “proof” of what you can do based on the book and choose ONE of the standards below for the focus and topic of your project. If your book is fiction: Discuss the central theme and analyze its development through characters and events. Analyze how a specific character changes over the course of a text and how this change helps develop the theme. Analyze the author’s choice of structure or order and how this helps create mystery, tension, or surprise.
Look at your project as “proof” of what you can do based on the book and choose ONE of the standards below for the focus and topic of your project. If your book is non-fiction: Summarize the book. The summary must include what is stated explicitly and what the author wants the reader to infer. If the author has left out information, this should be addressed as well. Discuss two or more central ideas of the text and analyze their development over the course of the text.
Each Independent Reading project will be worth fifty points toward your term grade. For those of you who say you never have homework in English…HERE YOU GO!
